On The Internet
On The Internet came at a unique time in my life because I was happy with my life when it began. By the time it was over—just a short 25 episodes later—everything had changed. Perhaps it’s fitting that during the five years I lived in Manhattan, Kansas, I only did one “serious” show with my girlfriend and her one-time college roommate. That show began in July of 2011 as “LIFE“—a name that could not possibly encapsulate what my 24-year-old existence had experienced so far. My first podcast with Brian collapsing, meeting Colby, my breakup with my first wife (who then married Brian), moving towns and starting a new job that left my 2-year-old child 200 miles to the southwest, meeting a whole new world of people who would become good friends—and, of course, the one lover who would eventually break my heart.
“LIFE” was a great therapy session for me as I explored all of those changes in my… well, life. You can hear more about that on that program’s page. But for this show—even if it was the same cast—the vibes were very different. I was happy in 2014. We had just launched “The Dewdio,” and I was finally making good money at my day job and as a podcast network. I had found the true love of my life. Colby and I were partners in business together. Things were good between my ex-wife and me—and more importantly, Aaron was happy too.
Katrina and I had only become better friends in the “off time” between “LIFE” and this show—so we changed the name, simply because it was easier to market to the masses, and we sat down and did what we did best.
It was great while it lasted. It only ended because my day job went bankrupt, and I chose to move back to Wichita to be closer to my then 6-year-old son. I don’t regret that decision at all—but I sure do miss this show. Everyone by now knows what happened to Kris, but Katrina and I still talk regularly. She has three kids now, and it turns out Mark is still a really great guy!
This is my favorite show I have ever been a part of (that doesn’t involve Colby), and I am so happy that I can share it with all of you who will (hopefully) enjoy it as well.
